KHERSON ART MUSEUM IN WARSAW
Alina Docenko, director of the Art Museum in Kherson, came to Warsaw for several meetings, e.g. with embassy representatives of Latvia and Germany. This museum had to live through months of brutal Russian occupation and now needs to be rebuilt from scratch: Before Kherson was liberated by Ukrainian troops, 70 Russians in civilian clothes came and, over 5 days, systematically stole everything: 12,000 art objects were loaded into unmarked trucks and driven to a museum in Simferopol on the currently occupied Crimea peninsula. Even felt slippers for museum visitors were stolen. OBMIN organized to furnish this museum e. g. with modern laptops and printers. Rebuilding this important museum will be one of the priorities for the forthcoming years.
