NOVOVOLYNSK HISTORICAL MUSEUM
The Novovolynsk Historical Museum was opened in 1998. The museum consists of seven halls, each dedicated to a specific exhibition.
The first hall showcases the ancient history of the city, including the villages on which it was built. The exhibition features household utensils, tools, traditional clothing, and archaeological artifacts. A section faithfully recreates the interior of a traditional Ukrainian house.
The next hall is dedicated to the events of World War II. Among the exhibits are information about UPA soldiers, Ostarbeiters, resettlers from Kholmshchyna, and political prisoners. The hall also includes weapons from the World War II era. Another hall focuses on the city's construction. It features models of coal mining machines, photographs, and newspapers from the 1950s that document the development of the coal industry in the region.
The museum also has a spiritual hall that displays church relics, including the royal gates of the Nyzkynychi Spanish Church and restored icons from local communities.
In 2015, a new exhibition was opened dedicated to the Russian-Ukrainian war. It includes personal items of modern heroes as well as belongings left behind by the occupiers.
