MILITARY-HISTORICAL MUSEUM NAMED AFTER SUVOROV, OCHAKIV
The Museum "Underground and Partisan Movement in Mykolaiv Region. 1941–1944" was opened on April 29, 1975, in the city of Mykolaiv at 5 Lyahina Street. The museum is located in a historic late 19th-century mansion, which is a monument of history and architecture. During 1941–1943, the mansion was home to Hero of the Soviet Union Viktor Oleksandrovych Lyagin, the leader of Mykolaiv's underground resistance center during World War II.
The museum's exhibition includes a rich collection of documents, photographs, and artifacts that highlight the struggle of Mykolaiv region residents against Nazi occupiers in 1941–1944. Among the exhibits are forged medical certificates, passes, passports, and copies of German seals created by underground activists to save young people from deportation to Germany and organize escapes for prisoners of war from concentration camps. At the center of the exhibition hall is a collection of small arms and scale models of military equipment.
The museum actively organizes exhibitions, scientific conferences, and educational events, preserving the memory of the heroic resistance of Mykolaiv residents during the Nazi occupation. Through its work, the museum serves as an important center for patriotic education and research on the history of the underground and partisan movement in the Mykolaiv region.
